About Us
Angel House aims to help individuals with
cerebral palsy to integrate into the mainstream social environment. We offer a
unique service which integrates rehabilitation, education, independent living
skills and vocational training to people with cerebral palsy up to the age of
25. Our goal is to foster competence and confidence to participate in social
activities and encourage fulfilment of personal values to share rewarding lives
in mainstream society.
The core program provides a full time,
in-house, therapeutic service. The various components of the program aim to:
increase
mobility and independent movement
give
the children access to education by preparing them for participation in
mainstream education, or, if they are not physically or mentally able attend
mainstream school, they receive schooling by teachers on-site
provide
support and advice for families to allow them to manage the difficulties of
cerebral palsy and enable the entire family to participate more fully in
community life.
Services are offered at two different
centres:
Children’s Development Centre: Children up
to the age of 12 participate in one on one physical therapy, small group
rehabilitation, speech therapy, hands and arm therapy, general education and
early intervention.
Youth Development Centre: Young people aged
from 12 to 18 participate in small group rehabilitation, general education,
independent living skills training and vocational training.
Many people in counties surrounding the
Nanning metropolis are unable to come to Angel House to receive the services
they need. In 2010 we expanded the reach of our skills and experience and
embarked on the Community Based Recovery Program in collaboration with Handicap
International. This service offers regular home visits to advise families on
teaching and rehabilitation methods and to give support and encouragement. We
also organise community meetings to allow families to share experiences,
exchange ideas and support each other. Another important aspect of this program
is raising public awareness about disability through various activities and
initiatives.
